Syedra

Coins found in the vicinity reveal that Syedra was once a Roman town which lived its brilliant and powerful period during the 2nd-3rd centuries A.D. There are 3 aqueducts which once provided water to the city. On the east of the town there is a huge bath. Other important structures in the town include a temple, a theater, the acropolis, a necropolis, houses and walls.
In the site there are remnants dating from between the 7th century B.C. to the 13th century A.D.
Another evidence about the city, we have in a letter written by Septimius Severus, the Roman Emperor, to the people of Syedra in 194 A.D.
In his letter the emperor expresses his gratefulness to the people of Syedra who resist the bandits bravely .
