703 pictures     Archaeological sites

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean. It is a fascinating place, filled with contradictions. Because of its strategic location it was subject to repetitive waves of invasions for thousands of years. This is why we can find there Greek temples alongside Roman antiquities, Norman castles and churches, Arab and Byzantine domes and beautiful Baroque palaces. The archaeological richness of Sicily is indeed overwhelming.
The survey in Sicily was done in 2 photography tours along approximately 2000 kilometers. 7 Sicilian sites were documented. This was an intriguing and unique experience.
