Crusader sites in Israel
500 pictures
25 minutes HQ video
The Crusader period in the Land of Israel lasted from 1099 to 1244.
The special military needs of the Crusader Kingdom in Israel led to the establishment of a variety of religious and military institutes and orders all over the country. Some of them were founded to serve the many pilgrims and settlers that arrived from Europe. For this purpose many lodges and hospitals were built. Later the Crusaders offered military escort and built a network of fortresses in strategic places, in order to alert and protect against Muslim attacks.
In the current project hundreds of crusader sites were photographed and documented. The photographs and video segments are organized and cataloged conveniently.
Here are few examples of the photographs of crusader sites in Israel. For a detailed verbal description of the sites, please check "Archaeological sites in Israel"
